(Feb. 2006) In 2001-2003 a large interdisciplinary research project Honesty and Trust: Theory and Experience in the Light of Post-Socialist Transformation was convened by Professor János Kornai (Harvard University and Collegium Budapest) and Professor Susan Rose-Ackerman (Yale University) under the auspices of Collegium Budapest with the generous financial support of the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. The group was international, with over 50 scholars recruited from 17 countries of the "East" and "West". The disciplines represented were political science, economics, sociology, law, anthropology, and political philosophy. Some studies generated by the project were published in two volumes in New York by Palgrave Macmillan in 2004 entitled Building a Trustworthy State in Post-Socialist Transition and Creating Social Trust in Post-Socialist Transition, edited by János Kornai, Susan-Rose Ackerman and Bo Rothstein.
